Join the Expedition!
The purpose of these expeditions is two-fold; to offer our guests a rare opportunity to assist in important scientific field research while exposing them to incredible and picturesque destinations far off the beaten path. You will help us refine our techniques and equipment for monitoring and removing plastic pollution from remote shores, while establishing relationships with local inhabitants and teaching them to become ‘citizen scientists’ where they will conduct plastic surveys and educate others in their communities about the impact of plastic pollution and the importance of environmental stewardship.
We encourage our ‘guest crew’ to remain active members of our organization, and would like to see them act as liaisons between the program and the new friends they meet and work with in the field. This way, our guest’s vacation will continue to have a lasting impact long after they have returned to ‘the real world.’
The Clean Oceans Project (TCOP), a registered 501(c)3 environmental non-profit organization, is pleased to introduce an exciting new series of expeditions developed around the latest trend in travel; luxury adventure travel that supports scientific research and field work around the globe.
Luxury, Adventure, Travel
TCOP was founded in 2008 to address the marine plastic pollution issue plaguing the world’s oceans and beaches. We have developed an economically and environmentally sustainable method for removing and recycling plastic pollution and we want YOU to get involved!
Our “One Beach at a Time” program is now booking seven or ten-day cruises available to virtually every exotic port-of-call imaginable. Your itinerary can be customized by our experienced staff to suit both your personal travel goals as well as those of our project. Our tours utilize late model charter boats and offer 3 private double cabins to provide the discerning adventure traveler with unparalleled comfort and recreation aboard a private luxury sailing catamaran with a professional captain and crew. Your time aboard will be split between field research and exciting activities of your choosing like surfing, sailing, or scuba diving.
Charter rates are on a ‘per boat’ basis. Each trip can accommodate up to 6 passengers. Rates include all on board meals. Land-based excursions, sports equipment, alcoholic beverages, and gratuities are not included. A portion of your charter fee is tax deductible.

Your Expedition Leader
Captain Jim “Homer” Holm has been Coast Guard licensed since 1979 and is fortunate to have seen many corners of the planet by sea. His first love is sail training and education, especially aboard “Tallship” style traditional sailing craft.
Captain Homer has a long history as a teacher on board ships and has created curricula for two acclaimed marine education programs in his home waters of the Monterey Bay in California. These programs have enabled over 50,000 students and adults to learn about what the ocean means to their lives. Captain Homer is also the cofounder and Operations Director for The Clean Oceans Project working to eliminate plastic pollution from the world's oceans.
